HUNGARY DEFIANT.
COERCIVE MEASURES LIKELY, By Telegraph—Press Association — Copyright. Router'* Telegrams. LONDON, September 12. Berlin Foreign Office telegrams show that the attitude of the Hungarian Government as regards the Burgenland dispute is very unsatisfactory. Hungary replied to the Allies’ Note, suggesting that the work of restoring order shall be entrusted to Hungarian troops. This is regarded as irrelevant and an abandonment of the previous disavowal of responsibility for the action of irregular bands. The Austrians have withdrawn from their zone. Meanwhile a state of alarm prevails among the frontier population, and cattle are being driven inland. It is fplt in London that it will be necessary to employ coercive measures to compel fulfilment of Hungary’s obligations.
