CANTERBURY WINS AGAIN.

WANGANUI, August 6

A great deal of interest was taken in the interprovincial Rugby match between Canterbury and Wanganui, which was played this afternoon. The Canterbury team was as follows : Backs: Orchard, Wilson, .Dailey, Ford, Fitzgerald, Henry and Mullins. Forwards: Carnegie (wing), Munro, Henderson, W. Cummings, E. Cummings, Turpin and Masters The following represented Wanganui ;—M’Auliffe, A. R. Collier, Potaka, Brown, Puna, Jackson, Hilyard, Stewait, Geange, O’Connell. Dillon, Ross, R. iliggiun, Tuki and Murphy. Wanganui won the toss, and had the advantage of a strong wind. E. Cummings broke away in a dribbling rush into Wanganui territory, but cff-side play stopped the rush near the line. A long kick by Brown, followed by another kick by Jackson, sent the ball back over the Canterbury line. Canterbury again assumed the aggressive, splendid play bj r Brown stopping them near the line. Fine play by the local backs carried play into the Canterbury half, but Ford broke away and was almost in at the corner A penalty relieved Wanganui. The visiting forwards worked back to the centre where Ford broke away, but was chased and grassed by Feina at the local twenty-five line. Shortly afterwards Ford secured possession and dashed down the line, and beating several opponents, scored a splendid try, which was not converted.

A Wanganui forward rush pinned the visitors, and again a force relieved. Even play followed for some time, but Canterbury then got int-o Wanganui quarters, and from a good dribbling rush, E.
