The final game for the Senior championship was playedi at Sydenham Park this afternoon under adverse conditions, with the ground sloppy and snow falling throughout - the first spell. The play was of a high standard, the fielding passing and mnniii c ' of the backs, with fine forward plav, creating great excitement amongst a large crowd When Cain drop-kicked a qoal in° the closing movements the Federal supporters rushed the ground. Sydenham carried the attack from the icrck off. and W King dribbling through scored, Rowe failing at goal. The Federal forwards controlling, Row'© broke away and passing to Young, the latter scored, but Coomber missed at goal. A fine passin® rush by Pahi, Kruse, Cain and Mitchell saw the latter score, and the try was con. v.-rted. At the interval the Bcore was •* Sydenham 6, Federal 0. Play was fast and exciting throughout fhe second half, with Sydenham playing finely. In the final stages Caiu obtained possession, and drop-kicked a fin© goal from a difficult angle. Federal . . .... 7 Sydenham . .... 6 Referee, Mr J. J. Stevens. THIRD GRADE. Kaiapoi won by default from Hornby. At Lduwood Park to-day, in a third grade match Templeton defeated linwood by 5 to nil. Mr M.’l*ay was referee. FOURTH GRADE. Federal defeated Woolstom by IS points to 0. Referee, Mr H. Heed. FIFTH GRADE. In a fifth grade game, liinwood 5 heat Wools!on nil. Mr Gearey w»s referee.
