BECKENHAM RESIDENTS' ASSOCIATION.

The monthly meeting- of the above association v.-aa held on Tuesday evening- at the Bowling Club pavilion, Western Terrace, Mr Carlisle presiding over a large attendance -il members. The secretary reported that no progress could be repoited with reference to a tram shelter at Malcolm Avenue, difficult;-.’ being experienced in securing a site for the proposed shelter. Serious charges were laid against the Heatlicoto County Council with reference to e’.untying the contents of a septic tank at Malcolm Avenue into an improvised trench excavated along the bank of the river adjacent to a public highway. 'The chairman stated that the Public Health Officer had been notified of what took place and had visited t.ho vicinity to assure himself of the facts. It was agreed to write to the Health Department asking what action the Department intended taking, also asking to get a guarantee from the Heathcote County Council that, such a procedure would not be tak *n in the future. The association agreed to write the Works Committee of the Christchurch CSty Council with to haying Eastern and Western Terraces formed during the present period of unemployment. The latter payt of the evening took the form of a social and oa.rd party, at which all present spent a very enjoyable time.
