RACING COMMISSION.
RAKCSTIKEI CLUB’S PROTEST. (Pee Phesi Association-^ 31ARTON, August o. Tho Rangitikei Racing Club placed before Mr E. Newman, M.P., a strong protest against the injustice of the Racing Oomission proposing the withdrawal of tho club’s annual permit. The chairman stated that the club -.as one of the oldest in the Dominion, having raced for over sixty-five years. Tho course was ono of the best on tho coast, and the meetings were well conducted and popular, as evidenced by the large attendance. They had excellent fields. The club does not intend to be sent under without a strong protest and will placo the matter before Parliament. Mr Newman said that although he was strongly against an increase in racing permits he recognised the injustice being done to the country clubs. He was strongly opposed to the Racing Commission's recommendation respecting the Rangitikei (_'lub being carried into effect.
