THE BIG FIGHT.
TO THE EDITOR Sir, —I read with surprise your editorial reference to the Dompsev-Carpen-tier fight. Surely the “ massacre ” was not the fault of the boxers, but of the people who matched a middle-heavy against a bigger and stronger champion. Dempsey had to beat Oarpen* tier, and ho did it in the best and most merciful way by knocking him out -vs fjoon as possible. The Frenchman was not in his class. Tt is not fair to condemn a sport because an ambitious young man crows too loudly and gets what is coming to him.—l am, etc., HARD KNOCKS.
