Six hundred modern machine-guns, concealed in the United States Shipping Board’s steamer Easts : de. and destined for an Irish port, were seized by the police at Hoboken. The dis* covery resulted from the marine strike, which necessitated a change of crews. Federal officials received a tin and or dered the seizure. The xiolice learned of the removal of ihe munitions and successfully fought the Customs officers for possession. The shipment, which is valued .at 175.060 dolars. was lodged in Court i where ownership warrants were sought bv Frank W illinms, a New York contractor. The Department oi Justice admits that it is making an investigation into a plot to smimele arms into Ireland. The guns were taken to the vessel nightly in launches.
