An extraordinary general meeting of the Chamber of Commerce was held this afternoon, Mr W. Al. Tvers presiding. Special resolutions were confirmed, increasing the amount of subscriptions, and altering the rules governing the appointment of honorary officers and life members. It is some time since such a large steamer as the Trevose has occupied the Lyttelton dry dock. Tho vessel has a length of 400 ft and a breadth of 52ft lin. The dock is 4oQft long and consequently there is plenty of room as far as length is concerned, but owing to her build, her sides being practically perpendicular, there is only about 9m to spare on each side- Vessels such as the Tomoana and Paparoa with a beam of 54ft have been docked but these vessels had a very different build, the 54ft being only at the deck level, the width then ta'ermg down gradually to finer lines. The Waimate, 420 ft long and a 54ft beam for example, was docked comfortably. In the case of the Tomoana 6ft Bin blocks wore used compared with sft block; iiz the case of the Treroso.
