GRAND LODGE COMMUNICATION. (Per Press Association*.! AUCKLAND, May 11The annual Communication of the. Masonic Grand Lodge of New Zealand opened to-daj, Worshipful Brofchei iijomas Ross, Grand Master, preskiing. He was re-elected Grand Master. The other principal officers elected were:—Grand treasurer, Bro J A. Frederic (Dunedin) ; Grand Registrar, Bro \V. G. Hay (Dunedin) : President of the .Board of General Purposes. Bro E. W. G. H. Watts (Dunedin); President of the Board of Benevolence. Bro J. J. Clark (Dunedin) ; Senior Grand Deacons, Bros J. E. Wade (West and J. L. Ching (Nelson) ; Junior Grand Deacons, Bros A- H. Warning (Auckland) and E. L. Ironmonger (Ruapehu). The report on the Widows’ and Orphans’ Fund showed that sixty-one persons were in receipt of Masonic annuities up to the maximum of £52. A special effort made during tho year for the augmentation of the fund realised to April 12 £9747. Further returns have yet to come in. Grants and loans out of the Special War Benevolent Fund amounted to £IBB4. The report of tb* Board of Genera! Purposes stated that seven new lodges were opened during the year Charters were granted with respect to three more. Steps were afoot in six other districts for the formation of new lodges. A poll of lodges as to the time of tho year that the Grand Lodge Communications should l>e hold had decided ir» favour of November.
