THE MORATORIUM.

FARMERS AND EXTENSION.

Mr D. Jones, M.P., directed attention at to-day’s meeting of the executive of the North Canterbury Farmers’ Union to the fact that the moratorium would lapse on June 30. He said that farmers should consider whether the Government should be asked to continue it. In view of the present position of the money market, the subject was of great importance to farmers and money-lenders. He believed that it would be well for the executive to consider if any action should be taken. The question was urgent, as if anything had to be done, it was necessary for it to be attended to during the coming short parliamentary session. He moved that the sub-committee of the executive be asked to consider the matter, and given power to act if they considered it advisable to make any recommendations to the Government. This motion was agreed to without further discussion.
