MAGISTRATE’S COURT.
TO-DAY'S CASES. CHRISTCHURCH. Air S. E. M’Oar thy, S.M., presided at to-day’s sitting of the Christchurch Magistrate’s Court. DRUNKENNESS. Two first offenders, convicted of drunkenness, were each fined ss, in default twenty-four hours’ imprisonment. ALLEGED THEFT. Hugh James Carr (Mr AY. J. Hunter) was charged that between February 1 an d 4, he stoic nine sheaves of wheat, value 7s 9d, the property of Joseph B. Gather wood. The hearing was adjourned to February 23. ALLEGED ASSAULTS. AVilliam Isaiah Aston (Air Thomas) proceeded against Ernest Troon and Frederick Hampton (Mr White), alleging common assault; on February 8 last at Papaiiui; Rebecca M’Cabe (Mr Thomar. proceeded similarly against Frederick Hampton (Air AVhite). Pleas c-‘‘ s- -t guilty were made in each case. Tn the first-named case, both defendants were convicted, and were ordered to find sureties of the peace for twelve months, self in —25, with two sureties of £l2 10s. In the other charge, Hampton was convicted and fined £5, and ordered to find sureties to keep the peace for six months. Defendants were ordered to pay the costs. ("Before Air H. Holland, J.P., and Air C. AY. Hervey, J.P.) HANDS v. CHESAIAN. Ann Lavinia Hands (Air Cuthbert) proceeded against Charles Chesman (Air AVhite), alleging common assault on January 3 last; AVilliam Hands similarly proceeded against Charles Cliesmar and George Ohesmar. Com- ; plainants asked for sureties for the keeping ol the peace.
