HOW TO TREAT AN UMBRELLA.
Very few people know ihe right, way with an umbrella. YVe hear them (says the “ Daily Mail ”) constantly complaining of how quickly their “ brolly ” wears out, without realising in the least that it- is their own careless treatment of a faithful friend that is really at fault. Never open out an umbrella to dry. as it will overstrain the ribs and cover, while the outraged article will revenge itself by refusing ever after to allow itself to- he neatly folded. And never, never, roll up and tie a wet umbrella unless yon wish for ai rusted frame and a, general rotting of the fabric. The proper way of dealing with an umbrella when wet is to close it gently, and hang it somewhere so that, the points are. downward. Afterwards, when nearly dry, it can be taken down, folded, and tied. The silk umbrella, requires even more rare from its fortunate possessor. Never place this aristocrat in an umbrella stand while damp, nor should you lean it i:i this state against a wall. Tn carrying, avoid the ungraceful habit of grasping your umbrella by its middle.
