The final meeting of the (Jab* Committee wag held in the Council Cha.rubens last night, Mr VY. i>. Black presiding over a good attendance. The Surprise Packet Sub-committee reported that each packet would bo worth more than the price of tho ticket and that it had been successful in se curing additional valuable prizes. The tea and sweets stall reported that all arrangements were running smoothly. and preparations were being mad a to cate’* for a large gathering. The Sports Committee reported that a large programme had been arranged, and that valuable prizes , had been tocured for the eventsThe Entertainment Committee reported that Mr Le Roi, the celebrated magician, and his company of enter tainers had been specially engaged for the afternoon and evening, and that, blindfolded, he would find the article hidden by the chairman of the committee and the Mayor of Sumner. The "Woolston Band had been engaged for the afternoon and evening. Tho chairman stated that in spite or the postponement from last Saturday the committees were working in a high ly satisfactory manner t and the fun'- 1 tion promised to be highly successful The secretary intimated that Captain Colonn-i had consented to exhibit a periscope as used in submarines. The “ Cave Man ” was proving a very at- ' tractive item. ]
