The Mayor stated to-day that the public should understand that VictoryPark—formerly Lancaster Park—now is vested in his Majesty the Iving, on their behalf, and that they may use it for any kind of sports, trom football and cricket matches to band contests. The special Act dealing with the park gives the Board of Control power to use it in that way. Every Mayor of Christchurch will be a member of the board, representing the Citizens. By the efforts of the commercial travellers, the Mayor added, the park is free of debt, and is a very valuable possession of the public-.
