The “ Morning Post’*’* Constantinople correspondent interviewed the Turkish Crown Prince, who appeals to Britain to revert to a pro-Turkish, policy. He declares that the traditional Turkish feeling is Anglophile. The result of a reversion to a pro-Turkish policy and revision of the severe treaty would be appeasement of Moslem interests in Asia, and Turkey would become an anti-Bolshevik barrier. He demands the restoration of East Thrace and Smyrna, Britain thereby gaining the friendship of Turkey in the place of the friendship of Greece. The Constantinople correspondent of the “ Daily Express ’* interviewed Kernel Pasha, who declared that the Turkish National Assembly at Angora, would never abandon the claim to complete national independence. He intended to embark on a programme of enlightened internal reforms, but would resist external interference. He would never agree to the surrender of Thrace or Smyrna.
