Wigram wrote stating that ho aid not seek re-election ss president <f the society, feeling that the time had come for him to retire. Ho deeply appreciated the honour of being so long associated with the society, and, although he would no longer be an active member, he would always take a keen interest in its welfare. The chairman said that the society should retain Mr Wigram as president if possible. Ho had proved himself on excellent president, and had'taken a keen interest in the work. Mr IK. Bassett considered the society would bo making a mistake if it did not reappoint Mr Wigram. He moved that he should be reappointed. The motion waa carried unanimously, with’ acclamation. Votes of thanks were accorded the society’s honorary solicitors, the honorarj auditor and Mr J. Wyn Irwin for his services as secretary during the p%st year. A sub-committee, consisting of Messrs Bilson, Watkins, Barrett, Mitchell, Brewer 1 and Bassett, was set up to draft regulations In connection with the Wigram Shield, and to consider the advisability of handing tho shield to the Dominion executive. It was decided that the primary school competitions should be held not later than April 1 in each year, competitors to be under fourteen years of age on March 1. NEW BRIGHTON LIFE SAVING CLUB. The financial position of the Now Brighton Surf Bathing and Life Saving Club is satisfactory, according to the tenth annual report. Assets amount to £439, including cash in hand £35. There are no liabilities. During last season the club won tbo Sumner Cup and the Benson Shield, and waa second irt the Ray Blank Cup competition. Tlie Watson Cup was won by Mr L. C. Matson. In the examinations in the Royni Life Saving Society’s methods, awards were made as follows:—Proficiency certificates— L.. W. J. Clarkson. C. H. Clemens, J. C Hardie, C. W. Smith. A; E. Summerfield and P. S. Taylor. Bronze medallions—L. W. J Clarkson, J. C. Hardie, 0, W. Smitfi and P.- S. Taylor.
