ATTACKS ON WOMEN.
YOUNG MAN ACCUSED. Edgar Edward Vigors, aged twenlythreo years, was charged at tho Magistrate's Court to-day, before Mr V. G, Day, S.M.-, that (1) on August 18, at lliccarton, he did assault and rob liar-, bara Hand of a handbag and purse, containing P.O. Savings Bank book, 130s in money, one gold ring, ono camisole, photo frame, writing pad, two medals, rosary beads, two packets of confetti, of a total value of £6 17s 6d. (2) On August 17, at Papanui, did assault another young woman .with intent to commit rape, (3) On August 18, at Styx,_ did assault three young women with intent to commit a crime, Ohicf-Bctective M’llvcney, who prosecuted, .said that the accused Had been committed for sentence a week previously for tho theft of a motor-car valued at £760, the property of Thomas F'risby. A remand for ono week was now asked in connection with the present charges. ' 1 The remand was granted. ,
