CANTERBURY FORECAST. ■% ( ' Wind.—Southerly, moderate to strong. Weather.—-Cold; fair lo changeable. F. L. WOOLES. Air Wooles states that during yesterday’s cold spell heavy rain was experienced, over the greater part of the province. Hail occurred in parts, while snow fell on the up-coimtry plains and in the hill districts of North Canterbury during the afternoon. A 'severe frost followed at fiiglit. Tho city virtually escaped tlio storm. a slight fall of rain accompanied by ft very cold son’-wester being all that was experienced. GOVERNMENT FORECAST. Wind.—Southerly, moderate to jtrong prevailing and freshening. Weather.—Probably cold and changeable. with scattered showers. Hard frost to-night. B^jvq-Qcter.—Rising tendency.
