The M’Lean Institute Board of Governors. at its meeting yesterday, granted Bishop Julius leave of absence until the end of the year, and wished him an enjoyable trip to England. M- Emile Marling, director of the phosphate company on the French island of Makatea, whoso death during a recent hurricane was recorded in yesterday's cablegrams, made an extended visit to New Zealand in the middle of last year, and spent some time in ..hnstchurch, where he delivered a lecture, m French, on the islands of the Society group. M. Marting was a man of most* charming manners, and he made many friends during his visit to ->ew Zealand.
