BROKEN SPEED HITS.

MANY MOTORISTS FINED.

A large number_of motorists were charged before Mr V.'G. Day, S-M , at the Magistrate's Court tin's morning with having hro’ren speed limits. Several had broken the speed limit of twelve mdes an hour along Page's Hoad, New Brighton. Thomas Fleming pleaded that, ns he was a stranger to Christchurch, he was ignorant of the by-laws. The Magistrate pointed out that he had speeded over a road eroding. Defendant was fined '2os and costs. The following were also fined -Os and costs Norman L. Tleid. Jack Ship ton, Desb'e D. Mulligan. Mrs Helen Knight and E. L. Tiorgfeldt. Charges again>t motorists caught in the *• trap ’ situated along the Nonh Road. Belfast, were heard. The only motorist v. ho contested the case war, George Scott, who was represented by Mr C S. Thomas. Constable Moore said he had estimated Scott’s speed at twenty-five miles, ar- hour.
