In regard to the Heatheote, Countv Council's intention to call for tenders shortlv for the erection of a bridge over the. river Avon at f3unv'ood, the By-laws and Finance Committee, reported to the City Council last evening that it had been intimated that the cost (less £.300 paid hv the Shirley Intension Syndicate) was to be borne one-third by the Waimairi Countv' and two-thirds by the Avonside ridinc 0 f the Heatheote Countv (as con.stitTitwl in 1916). The County Council stated that as the cost could not be determined at the. tune of the Avonside-City adjustment of accounts! the matter was eft in abeyance as :\ contingent lia'lnlity ot that part of Aronsido which .loined the city in 1917. The committee recommended that the council should accept no liability in the matter, as the amalgamation with the city took place on March 20. .1017. and the Commissioner's report was ixMied on April 26, 1917, and also the Citv Council was not represented, nor asked to be represented, at the Commission. The clause, was adopted.
