W.C.T.U.

Owing to had weather, there was only a small attendance at the annual meeting of tiie Oxford W.C.T.U.. held in tho Coronation Hall on Wednesday. The president, who was in iliC' chair, gave a short account of the year’s work, and said that had weather, and other causes, had kept her away from some of the meetings, and site desired to thank those who had carried on tho work when she was absent. She re- ■ gretted the loss of three earnest and faithful members, oho by death, and two (Miss Pohrman and Miss .Tones) by removal. Now they had to part with Mrs L. Aneall, who had been a most loyal and energetic, worker. Reports from tho various superintendents showed that steady work had been done in nil departments. There were 105 names on tho cradle roll (IS new names this year), L.T.L. 56 members, 63 subscribers to the White Ribbon, besides eight free copies distributed. A number of visits had been naid to those.who were sick or in trouble. The V. Branch had had charge of tho Band of Hope, and tho members had worked hard to make tho meetings a, success. Tt was decided to send a letter to the Y. Branch, expressing thanks and appreciation. The statement of accounts was read and adopted, and a vole of thanks was passed to the auditor, Mr L. "Watson. All the officers were reelected, except _ Mrs L. Aneall, superintendent of Notable Pays, who resigned on account of leaving tho district.. Tt was decided to ask Mrs Lewis to take the position. Members were reminded of the near approach of polling day, and urged to try to influence those with whom they came in contact-; they were also asked to attend a meeting of the Christchurch Women’s Efficiency League, which will ho held in Oxford shortly. It was decided to hold a sewing meeting on election day, in the Coronation Hall. Tho meeting resolved to send £2 towards the Dominion president's expenses as delegate to the W. Convention to he hold in London. One new member was initiated.
