HELPING THE NURSES.

CONVALKSCENT R EST-HOUSE. SUCCESSFUL GARDEN FETE. A successful garden fete was held in the ground of the General Hospital on Saturday afternoon to raise funds fora Com a Ir-.-ceui Rest-house ter nurses who suffer from sickness and fatigue. This is almost the first effort, to raise funds for the re»t-honse. A site has not been selected, and the size of tho institution will bo determined by the total sum collected. It is not intended to restrict the rest house to nurses at tho General Hospital. Tin?, leto nas well arranged and ordered, and, ns the rose season is in its prime. the stalls were bright with blooms. The centre of activity was in the groves north-west of the Hospital, whore the trees gave shelter from the sun and from the south-west wind that prevailed. The stalls were of the usual character. In addition there were sales-girls with flowers, sweets, pictures and fancy work. Jhe fete was promoted by members of the Hospital Lady Visitors' Associalion, Miss Wilson being the chief orgunisor.
