The ferry steamer Mararoa arrived in Lyttelton at 10.30 a.m. to-day.

THE LAUREL WHALEN. Nows regarding the scliooncr Lnuro; Whalen, which lies disabled in Papeete Harbour, wi»3 brought to Auckland by the island steamer Flora on Thursday. According to officers of tho vessel, the Laurel Whalen is rapidly deteriorating. Her limbers uro becoming worm-oaten. Her cargo has been transhipped to passing- vessels. Divers are constantly at work scraping tho thick clusters of barnacles from her bottom, and orders for now canvas have been placed. It is not considered likely that tho schooner will be able to continue her voyage to Vancouver (or many weeks to come.
