WELLINGTON LADIES’ CHAMPIONSHIP. [P*e Press Association.] WELLINGTON, October 29. The first round of the Wellington provincial ladies’ golf, championship was played to-day. The outstanding feature of the meeting was the defeat of Miss Gambrill, who was runner-up in Auckland for the ladies’ championship. The victor in this match was Miss Anderson, who played a capital game. The results were as follow: Mrs Marchbariks beat Mrs Martin, 5 arid 4; Miss Withers beat Mrs Donald, 4 and 3; Miss Tweed beat Mrs Bidwell, 5 and 4; Miss Brandon beat Miss Mantell, 1 up; Miss Ward beat Miss Shearer, 3 and 2; Miss M’-Laure bpai Mrs Widdop. 2 up; Mrs Colin boat Miss Carter, 1 up; Miss Anderson beat Miss Gambrill, 6 and 5.
