SCULLING.
THE BARRY-FELTON MATCH. LONDON, October 26. The “Times” says that Barry blundered by keeping in midstream instead of taking tie smooth -water by the Middlesex bank, but anyway Felton got much more out of his stroke, and the race soon became a stern chase. Barry looked round frequently. Pelr ton, sculling with the greatest ease and confidence, won, by much more than the official six lengths.' He could have made it twenty. DESCRIPTION OF THE RACE. A large crowd assembled at the FoltonBarry match despite the black and l threatening conditions. Many “Diggers” wore present wearing Felton’s colours. From the start Felton, who won the toss, daringly made for shelter, while Barry kept in midstream. Felton’s judgment was. amply. Justified. Barry, striking bad water, laboured rather badly. Relton quickly established a str-mg lead. When nearing Hammersmith /Bridge, he crossed the river and weathered (rougher water, while Barry, who was now in smoother water, spurted, but failed l to make an appreciable impression on Felton’s load. Passing Chesswick Barry again settled down to a big effort to reduce Felton's lead, and sustained his effort to the finish amid encouraging cheers from the tow path. The time was 25min 40sec. Barry started favourite. The Australian Press Association interviewed Felton, who declared ho was glad to bo able to take the championship back to Australia. Barry subsequently invited Felton' to his quarters and congratulated him, Barry, interviewed, said he thought the lucky toss decided the race, and added, “Good luck to Felton.” Barry stated', “I kayo been rowing as a professional for eleven- years, and bavc made nothing.”
