RAPAKI WELCOME HOME.

A welcome home banquet was held at the pa, Rapaki, on Friday evening, in honour of Sergeant-Major H. Clark and Trooper Manibcra, who have recently returned to New Zealand. Mr Watson, chairman of the Pa Committee, in welcoming home the guests of the evening, stated that, although tho residents of Rapaki wore only a very Km Ml number, he thought they had done their bit in the defence of the country, for no fewer than ten hiid volunteered for active service. Later Captain Tikao presented SergeantMajor Clark with a gold-mounted cigarette holder and Trooper Alanihera ■with a fountain pen. The rest of tho returned men were each presented with an illuminated address by Mr Pitsuna, on behalf of the Tuahiwi Maoris (Kaiapni). After the banquet dancing was kept irp till the small hours of the morning. There were about two hundred present, including visitors from Lyttelton and Governor’s Bay.
