SPEECHES BY WILSON. NEW YORK, September 21. President Wilson in a speech at Odgen (Utah) stated that SO per cent of the people of the United States were in favour of the League. The elements formerly tending towards disloyalty opposed the Covenant. America would he serving Germany’s purpose if the League wore not adopted, because America would bo permanently dissociated from the nations with which she cooperated in defeating Germany. Some of the critics of the League were looking backward. That was why they were stumbling. Their blood was cold with fear that someone would attempt to defraud the United States. No one was attempting fraud.

AT SALT LAKE CITY. NEW YORK, September 2-L In a speech at Salt Lake City President Wilson said the Foreign Relations Committee’s reservations would force the I reaty back to the Peace Conference. The amendment of Article Ten would nullify American participation in the League and destroy the Treaty. Any reopening of the Treaty reopened the entire question. Americans did not desire this.
