SOLDIERS’ BALL AT GUST.

The most successful function that has been held in the Gust Institute Hall for many-years took place recently, the occasion being the. returned soldiers’ ball. The president of the Patriotic Society. M* H, Tallott, in thanking the returned, men for their entertainment, stated that no function held in the Gust hall had ever been better conducted, nor had he seen such a, gathering for about twenty years. The hall was very prettily decorated, and t-bo stage wis arranged as a drawing room- The supper room tables were laden with good things. Mr and Mrs G. Fergus led the grand march, and dancing, to the accompaniment of Humphreys’s Band, from Rangior-a. was kept up till 3 a.m. One of the spe:hl dances of the evening was designated “ Returned Soldiers’ Only,” twenty-five men taking part in it. The soldiers were warmly applauded. Amongst those present were Mesdames Kingsbury, Campbell, -Howat, Allison, "Waylaid, Henderson, Lang, Gaffney, C. Forbes, A.
