BILL TO BE SUBMITTED SIR JOSEPH WARD’S STATEMENT. (Special to the “Star.”) WELLINGTON, September 18Questioning the Prime Minister on the housing problem, Mr IVaser, Lahour member for Wellington Central, drew attention to a statement by the leader of the Opposition that be could provide homes for workers at a rate of payment of 10s per week, and that £4,000,000 should be placed on the Estimates for that purpose. Mr Fraser wished to know if the Prime Minister would introduce such a scheme this session, and If he would seek the advice and assistance of Sir Joseph Ward. \vn Pri ™ Minister replied briefly, A Bill dealing with the housing question, ho said, would be submitted to Parliament, shortly, when opportunity would be given for the discussion of any practicable suggestion. Mr Fraser said ho was quite sure the leader of the Opposition had not made the proposal without giving full consideration to every aspect of the probiem, including finance, and a boon would be conferred on the country if the details of the scheme were niade known. Dr Thacker argued that the solution of the housing need was for the Government to give a. lead in provision and finance. Then he was sure that local bodies Vvould get busy and provide houses.
