THE ELECTRICAL LOAN.
TO THE EDITOR. &ir,—l, for one, won’t vote for it 1 Mr Holland is reported as stating that Lake Coleridge saved the consumption of 80,000 tons of coal. That is sui’ely worth £3 per ton, or is £IOO,OOO. Who does that profit belong to? Why, of course, to the ratepayers. The Government has contracted to supply the ratepayers with electricity at a' low price and the said ratepayers have a right to sell at a profit- Our rates at present are about £140,000. Mr Dobson said that the AVaimakariri could pay the rates of Christchurch. Never "mind, the Lake Coleridge will do as well. It will just come in very handy, for our rates are rising. Mind, don’t vote till they promise to do it.—l am, etc., JOSHUA LITTLE.
