NEW ZEALAND POLITICS.
THE PARTY TRUCE.
[Per Press Association.] AUCKLAND, August 5. Questioned regarding the future political position in New Zealand, Sir Joseph Ward said that throughout his association with the National Government he had not publicly discussed political party questions and he did not intend to do so while he was still a. member of the Notional Government. Until his severance from the National Government he felt that that, was the only attitude he could take up. I may add, however, that [ recognise fully the situation in New Zealand. I realise that there are most difficult problems ahead to he solved. Nothing would give him greater delight, he added, than to send out a. greeting and n rallying call to all the political supporters of Liberalism, hut lest his action should be open to misconstrur-ticn ho red to refrain from saying anything of a party political nature at this stage until he felt that he was at liberty to do so.
MR MASSEY’S VIEWS.
SESSION TO BEGIN SHORTLY [Pee Press Association.] AUCKLAND, August o. Mr Massey, questioned regarding New Zealand politics said, smiling:— “ I have nothing to say beyond reiterating that I shall be meeting the members of my Party at the earliest opportunity for a long talk. ■ In any case it is impossible for me to say anything before I get together with my 'fellow Reformers, _ and am seized with the exact position. The same remark applies to the Coalition. That is also a matter that cannot be settled until we meet our colleagues in Wellington. At present everything is in the air so far as that is concerned. Meanwhile, preparations will go on for the session, which personally, I should think would begin within the next fortnight.
