It is probable that the - chairman of the Land Purchase Board will visit Christchurch this week, and that he and Mr H. D. M. HaszarcT, Commissioner of Grown Lands? will inspect land in North Canterbury uitder offer for discharged soldiers’ settlenient. This evening, in the T.W.C.A, hall, Mrs Kyiiebon Parkes, England, will give a lecture on “ Women’s Votes and' How to Exercise Them/’' __ Mrs Parkes is a most interesting and 1 this .is to be the only ledjure given by her while in Christchurch.-:, The lecture is not confined to members of the Y.W.O.A.

“ Marine business ” was stated by a defendant at the Magistrate’s Court today to be the reason which took him into; the bar of a local hotel, although he was the-, subject of. a. prohibition order. In. to a question by the Magistrate |»lr- T. A. 8..
