NO RIFT IN LUTE.

SOLDIERS STAND TOGETHER RUMOUR AND DENIAL. A very robust declaration .of unity was made by members of the Returned * Conference this morning on a matter brought up by Mr T. Miller, \vno read a special report scut from vhristchurch to the “Dominion.” of Wellington, jainting at a split in' the' ranks consequent on tho dissatisfaction OI Auckland members with tho basis of representation, The correspondent had stated that Mr E. A. Andrews, of Auckland, had hinted that within & yrar there would be a new returned soldiers’ organisation in New Zealand, winch would, in all probability bo affiliated to an organisation in Australia. Mr Miller said be considered that nothing had been said to suggest such a probability as was mentioned, and the.association should disclaim it. Air R. H. Dalhousio moved—“ That, having _ regard to the article in tho Dominion ’ of May 31, this conference demos the truth of the suggestion that there is any grave danger of a split) owing to tho report of the Organisation! Committee., and is of tho opinion that Mr Andrews lias hcy.u misrepresented.” Ho said that tho matter was a wilful) and deliberate attempt to create discord, and. moreover, was a lie, Thd correspondent was a member of the associatinn, Mr Eliott (Auckland) said that there was no possibility of a split on anv matter. Tho president (Dr Boxer) said that the repudiation should come from tho Auckland members. “ I call it a He,” said Mr Eliott. Mr A. Curtayne (Auckland! said that fho conference should state that no attempt to split the association could be made, and that there had never been any hint conveyed;by Mr Andrews, as stated, in or out of the association Air Pollock said that he endorsed nl) j Jhnt been said by his own colleagues and also by Air Curtayne.
