SCHOOL COMMITTEES.

WEST CHRISTCHURCH DISTRICT HIGH SCHOOL. Tho monthly meeting of the West Christchurch District High School was held on May 20; present—Rev F. Rule and Messrs 6. Barrel!, H, T. Whitham. J. Middleton. W. B. Bultitndo and E. Pailane. In the absence of Dr Chilton, who was in Wellington, tho Rev F. Rule was voted to the chair. It was agreed to ask the board to supply a slow combustion stove for one of the infants’ rooms, instead oi tho two open fireplaces, as under Iho present conditions tho room is never warm. It was resolved to recommend the board to appoint Miss Mario Pavitt to the position of first assistant mistress at the school. The head master reported that the roll number at the school was fiSG, with an average attendance o{ 620, and in the secondary department the roll number was 240, with an average attendance of 230. The arrangements suggested by the hoard for the children’s participation in the Peace celebration were left to the head master to fit in with tho Citizens’ Committee’s programme.
