THE SECOND BLOW.
PARRIED BY FRENCH.
Germany’s Striking Force.
Enemy Less Advantageously Situated.
Australian anil N.2. Cable Association. (Received April, 6, 10.5 a.m.) LONDON, April 5. The progress of the renewal of the German thrust for Amiens, on a twelvemile front, in awaited with confidence, owing to recent heavy Entente reinforcements to the battle area. Tim heaviest blow fell on the French, who parried an attack by well over 100,000, indicating that the Germans still have a great striking force at their command. Experts are surprised at the early resumption of the Kaiser’s battle, in view of the difficulties in bringing up heavy guns. Generally it is agreed that the enemy is less advantageously situated than at the beginning of the first attack.
