HEATROOTF,. Tho Heathooto CoAinty Council met last night; present—Messrs TJ. Flavell (chairman), Cr. K. Burton, E. K. Patten, W. S. Soarf, B. J. Oookaloy, G. M. Hall and T. Wilson. The secretary of the Hanmer Phi ins Cemetery Trustees wrote stating that the trustees wero prepared to supply liurial plots free of cost, and permit tho erection of headstones or memorials by the Ciovemment if desired. The Rolorua Chamber of Commerce again wrote, asking tho council'n mpporf relative to utilising prison labour on the main arterial roads of tho Dominion. It wag resolved to further pupport the suggestion. Messrs John Butler and A. Mayo wrote, asking for in increase in payment, for their two horse tennis of ,">» n day. It was decided to grant an increase of 0s Gd a day on condition that they keep all necessary plant in repair and find nunc. Mr .1. Messrs Wood and Newton wrote, complaining of the bad state of the Hawkswood Road from Wniau to Cheddar Valley. It was decided to attend to the matter later. Mr F. Travels wrote, complaining of the bad stato of the Codstreain Creek. Tho overseer was instructed to attend to the creek. Messrs Christensen and Ashton wrote, pointing out tho b.id condition of various roads and crossings! and stated one culvert was broken in tho JHanmer district. The. overseer reported that the culvert had been attended to, and the other matters would bo attended to by the surfaceman. It, was decided to call for tenders for cleaning a drain on tho Woodhank Boad alons the frontages of Messrs .1. H. Mead and W. H. Furrow. Mr Ct. Fulton stated that he had built the bridge over Dog Creek, and would lie fencing the new lino of road shortly. It wah decided to locate and form the new road as soon as possible, and also to draw up plans and specifications for a bridge over fewumpy Creek. It was resolved to call applications for a surfaceman with horse and dray, for the Rothcrham riding, and obtain a man to do necessary work on tho Ka.ikoura road. It was decided to form'street leading to Mr J. Butler's property et Culvorden, tho overseer to draw up specifications during tho month. Beceipts for the month amounted to £l3 13s, and accounts amounting to £537 4s id Avere passed for payment.
