Messrs C. W. Hervcy and J. S. Hawkea the Canterbury Automobile Association, will visit Greymouth on Tuesday. 'I hey will meet member* of the Greymouth branch of the association and will discuss several questions with them. Mr Olds, of Haiwt Street, Linwood, has received a cable stating that his son, Private James Olds, of the Medical Corps, is in a French hospital suffering from gunshot wounds, for the second time Private Olds was head of a tailoring business from which he retired in order to join thft staff of a hospital Bhip. Lieutenant A. Stevens (Sarnoan garrison'), who has been on fcrlough, spending the time with his friends in this city, will leave Christchurch tomorrow on hie return to SamoaJ Lieutenant Stevens, who was originally in the Navy and served in one of the British warships which took part in the bombardment of Alexandria in 1882, was an officer on the local forces in the old volunteering days. When first sent to Samoa Lieutenant Stevens was placed in charge of the machinegun section. More recently he succeeded Onptaln Richardson (promoted to the charge of the garrison) as officer in command of the wireless troop*.
