POSITION OF BRITISH DELEGATES. CROWN LAW OFFICERS' RULING. Australian and N.Z. Coble Association. (Received August 14, 11.30 a.m.) LONDON. August 13. Mr Ronar Law stated that the Crown Law Officers had advised the Government that it is illegal for British subjects to confer with enemies without fho Crown's license. The Government had therefore decided not to grant permission to delegates to visit Stockholm. Ho pointed out that the American, French and Italian Governments had decided similarly. Mr Sampel Gompers, president of the American Federation of Labour, ha.s telegraphed to Mr Havelock Wilson stating that tho federation will not be represented at the Stockholm Conference, which it regards as prejudicial to the cause of permanent peace and democracy. He is unable to accept Mr Wilson"s invitation to visit Engfeiid,. as his duties forbid him leaving America.
