* i NO STATE CONTROL. "GOVERNMENT CANNOT SEE ITS WAY." [From Our Correspondent.] WELLINGTON, August 10. In answer to a suggestion from Mr Vernon Reed that the Government should tako over the control of tholiquor trade during the war, the Prime Minister states that the Government cannot see its way to increase the Dominion's financial liabilities during tho war period.
