♦ BOYS COMMITTED TO BURNHAM. Two boys came before .Mr T. A. 15. Bailey, S.M., sitting in the Juvenile Court, charged witjj a series of thefts in Christchurch and suburbs, and one ilielt in Ashburton. The charge sheet set out. that they liiid committed the thefts ns follow: Inly 18, at Christchurch, breaking ■Mid entering: and theft of stamps from a f.ho|) in Chan eery Lane, vulued at £2, (he property of Angus Donaldson; on July 30, at Lower Rtecarton, the sum of £4 in money and stumps, the property of Emily Jane M'Kinley; on July 18, attempt to f.teal a cash box and £2 10s, the property of Ruth Field ; on July 20, at -Now Brighton, ihc sum of 30s, the property of R. A. Stokes; on July 28, at Christchurch, two razors and eases, valued at 30s, ilie property of Gibson Wood; on July L'fi, at Ashburton, 3s, the property of Susan Tasker: on August 1. at. Christchurch, a pocketbook, valued at 4s, the property of Maxino M'Gill nm] one stiek of soap, valued at one shilling., the property of George Lisle. One of the lads pleaded not guilty to the charge of theft of stamps from Donaldson's, and that eharge against him was dismissed. The lads were convicted on each of the other charges and committed to Burnham Industrial School, and the fathers were ordered to refund in one case £3 18s and in the other £5 18s.
