♦ INSTRUCTION IN NEW ZEALAND. STATEMENT BY DEFENCE MINISTER. (Special to the " Star.") WELLINGTON. August 10. Tho 'Minister of Defence states that -.lie training of tho Expeditionary Force in Now Zealand is limited to the instruction of recruits in drill, musketry, Itayonet fighting, extended order work, and fo on. Training in trench workbombing and gas work is carried out nt Sling Camp and at the Eta pies Camp. The time spent in New Zealand limits tiie training to elementary work, but in any case technical trench work is hfcst taught near tlie front, where instructors in the ever-changing details learned as the result of each raid or attack are constantly available. The New Zealand training fits oup to learn tile special work in the training camps in tho United Kingdom and France in tlie minimum time.
