PAPAROA COUNTY COUNCIL.

ORDINARY MEETING. Mr Leslie presided at the last meeting of (lie council, when there wore also present— Messrs Stone, Smith. Watson and Bailey. Tho committee appointed to inspect drains at Tni Tapu reported to the council, and it wns decided to reply to the resident* in terms of the ropon.

The chairman reportrd that since the last meeting Justice Denriston had Riven In? reserved decision in respect to the Park roads. Tho decision war, in favour of tin's council on overv point raised. Members expressed their gratification that, a guiding principle, had been laid down.

It was derided to puss llie amount of the Waimairi County Council's amended account for i'l'2l 10s fori the upkeep of the Park roads.

The chnirman reported tjtnt W. Ash had sat for his engine driver's certificate.

The Springs County Council wrote aflking for the use. of the stono crusher to crush about 700 cubic yards at the Wecdon.j pit for the Main South Komi above Wcedons. and sundry amounts in other pit'. It was decided 1o reply that, ns the. council had an exeeptionallv large amount of work ir: night for the crusher, the machine could only be spared for about six weeks from date, when the council proposed to start crushing on its oyn account. Tho district health officer wrote in inference to th.e nightsoil removal at Tompleton. approving of the de| osit site selected. The clerk reported that. a s the council had not yet received a price from the contractor approached, the mtittcr was held ui>. The clerk was instructed to write to the contractor and arrange I<> h*v« the work carried out as soon as possible. It war, decided to take legal action against ratepayers for failing to clear gorsc off 'he Halkett Road. The clerk was instructed 1o give notice to clear gorse and broom at Tcinplcton.
