A COLOSSAL VOTE. STATEMENT BY MR BONAR LAW. Renter's Telegrams. (Received Julv 25. 3 p.m.) LONDON. July 2-1. Tn the House of Commons Mr Eonnr Law. in moving a vote of credit of £650.000.000, said it was larger by £'150.000.000 than any previous voteThe average daily expenditure out. of the lasr- rote, he said, exceeded the estimate by a million daily. The estimate was £5.411.000 daily, whereas on 112 days of the financial year the daily expenditure was £6.705.000. The increases were Army and Navy and munitions, half a million; advances to tho Allies and dominions, half a million; miscellaneous, £300.000 daily. Mr Bonar Law said that he. was somewhat disappointed that, despite the aid of America, the British advances to the Allios had increased. Britain had held throughout that the. Allies were due the. money spent by them. "We arc not fighting for ourselves alone. I am satisfied the United States will deal with this question in the same spirit, realising that wc rely upon receiving in the United States the resources necessary io pay for supplies of all kinds for the Allies." Tiie total advances to the Allies and dominions was £1,025,000.000, but tho total advances to dominions were, only £146,000,000. Part of the increased Army 'expenditure. due to tho greater payments to India because a larger force had been obtained from India than was expected. The expenditure on aeroplanes had also increased.
