CHRISTCHURCH GUN CLUB.

The C'hristchuTch Gun Club's spnivow championship, with an optional was fired at the club's ground, Matson's Road, on Saturday. The weather was excellent. There waa a large attendance. The conditions were, ten sparrows at 21 yards, and the competition was open only to financial niembera of tho club. The first prize ■was a gold medal donated by the club and 60 per cent of the sweepstake, the second prize 30 per cent, and the third prize 10 per ' .«nt. Twenty-seven members competed. The scores were as follow. — Simpson, Hammond, F. Truscott and Stead, «aoh nine birds; Ayrcs, Skilling, Chisnall, Smith, Reed, Kiinber, Gee, Henzer and JaxkBon, each eight birds; Irvine, Honey, Cairns, Moir t JJeate, Turner, Ebart and Pepper, each aeven birds; Greer, eix birds; Holmes, H. V. Truscott end Prebble, each five birds. Preeco and Bromley retired. Simpson, Hammond, F. Truscott and Stead ■tied and agreed to divide the money, and to ehoot off for the medal. Hammond won, after killing six birds. 1 Mx Stead stated that he hail been deputed to make the presentation, and did so with i *rr«*t pleasure to a young shot who had very & quickly learned trap shooting.
