SUBURBAN TRAINS.

NO CONCESSIONS. (Sr.ecial to " Star.") WELLINGTON, July 31. The Government, lias failed to come to a decision regarding tno demand of an influential section of the House that tho Railway Department should resume the running of some of the suburban night train?. What caused delay in the matter is that it is, bound up with the general problem of recruiting, and the organisation of Now Zealand's remaining man-power. The Railway Department maintains that every call upon its staff for military duties wili now mean further curtailments of train?,. Parliament would not be likely to no anything to restrict essential goods services, &o that the pressure of events is rather forcing further reductions in passenger facilities than the reverse. I understand that the position the Government is. in regarding suburban train facilities is that, if it decides for some concessions, it will bo obliged to put through the House a Bill exempting the Railway Department from the provisions of tho Military Service Act.
