LADY LIVERPOOL FUND.
The friends of the Redcliffs branch met at the local library to hear the result of the year's work. The report stated that the branch had previously contributed £SO to the Christchurch centre towards tho purchase of comforts for the soldiers in the trenches, and now voted £4O for the Christmas Gift Fund. Nearly £3O worth of wool had been worked up into socks, caps and mufflers by the little band of sympathisers, and tho treasurer has in hand about £2O for the continuance of the work. Several of the residents had given afternoons and evenings, thereby collecting several good boxes of comforts, and tho school children had hemmed a number of handkerchiefs. After the reading of tho report tho president, Mrs Holland, gave an interest ing address on tho work of tho society. Sho said that while the war lasted this work was indispensable, especially when it is borne in mind that our army ig fighting its way through country devastated by the enemy. She expressed a, hope that more and' more interest would be taken in the work of tho society. t 'lhe meeting cloved with a vote of thanks to Mrs Holland for her address. mmm I
