BATTLE NEAR ST QUENTIN
GERMAN ATTACK FOLLOWS HEAVY SHELLING.
The High Commissioner reports:— LONDON, July li.), ;U0 p.m. A I< ronch official message states In the region of St Qucntin at seven o'clock last evening, after a violent bombardment, tho Germans attacked the crest of the Moulin de Touvents. The enemy was able to take, the foot of the first line trench, but was ejected from the greater part by a counter-at-tack. At Avocourt 'Wood the Germans counter-attacked our new positions, but \?erc chocked before reaching our lines.
