The assaulting waves were smashed, and we entirely maintained our gams of -July 14 After an attack in the morning west of Hill 304 we entirely recaptured all the positions which had remained in the hands of the Germans after the actions of June 28 and 29. -BRILLIANT FRENCH SUCCESS. ;TWO GERMAN LINES TAKEN. 'A French communique says:—There was reciprocal artillery activity in tne region of Cerny, Allies and the Californie plateau. , In Champagne the enemy renewed his attacks north of Teton, gaining a footing at certain points wo captured on July 14. The artillery duel continned violent at Mont Haut, where wo are organising the captured ground. The operations wo carried out ""the left bank of the Meuse, west of Hill 304, developed with full success. After a heavy artillery preparation our troops with irresistible dash attacked oyer a front of 2.500 metres on both sides ox the Esnes-Malancourt road. The whole of the first German line, which was elaborately organised for defence, fell into our hands. Short y afterwards the second enemy line, after desperate fighting, in which our troops manifested splendid keenness, was also earned. Our advance attained <i kilometre depth. The line of this advance runs from the south-eastern corner of Avocourt Wood to the western slopes of Hill 304, passing through Camard \\oo<l. Our fire annihilated several counterattacks during the afternoon, and tho enemy suffered heavily.
