His Honor Mr Justice LVnniston presided at to-day's sitting of the Supreme Coure, in banco. Legal argument was heard in the matter of Mary Baxter, widow, Greyrr.outh, v. Thomas Baxter, sawmiller, Greymouth, and othors. Mr Raymond, K.(3., with him Mr Joyce, appeared for the plaintiff, and Mr.M. Hannan. with him Mr J. \V. Hannan, for tho defendants.
The plaintiff claimed from Thomas Baxter tho sum of £3375. being tho balance of the purchase money owing by him under agreement made, and 'asked tho Court for a declaration that fiho was entitled to a one-third share in it he partnership carried on by her, 'Thomas Baxter and "William Baxter, or alternatively a lien for £3375 and interest on tho partnership assets, and that the assets be realised, and tho plaintiff bo held entitled to £3375, the interest, aud that a receiver : bo appointed... ■ Mr Raymond said that when the case .v;a"s before his Honor at Greymouth the question turned upon points of law, and at'his Honor's suggestion a statement was drawn up. aiid agreed to between ■ counsel, and it was now proposed to address his Honor on the items set out jn the schedule submitted. Counsel addressed his Honor on tho various-clauses of the agreements made. (Proceeding.)
